How Wegovy Works
Wegovy mimics the GLP-1 hormone to reduce appetite and food intake. It slows gastric emptying, making you feel full longer, and helps regulate blood sugar levels.
Effectiveness
The STEP clinical trials showed an average weight loss of 15-17% of body weight over 68 weeks. Many participants achieved clinically meaningful weight loss of 10% or more.
Dosing
Weekly injection with dose escalation: 0.25mg (weeks 1-4), 0.5mg (weeks 5-8), 1mg (weeks 9-12), 1.7mg (weeks 13-16), then 2.4mg maintenance. A new 7.2mg high-dose version is now available.
