How Zepbound Works

Zepbound is a dual-action medication that activates both GIP and GLP-1 receptors. This unique mechanism reduces appetite, slows digestion, and improves how your body handles blood sugar and fat.

Effectiveness

SURMOUNT trials showed average weight loss of 20-22% of body weight. In head-to-head trials, tirzepatide showed greater weight loss than semaglutide (20.2% vs 13.7%).

Dosing

Weekly injection with dose escalation: 2.5mg (weeks 1-4), 5mg (weeks 5-8), then increasing to 10mg or 15mg based on response. Some patients do well on lower maintenance doses.

FDA-Approved Uses

  • Chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with weight-related conditions

Common Side Effects
